I have disabled deleting posts on this board. That was a very bad hangover we tend to carry over from our Orkut days where people like to say stupid things to other people and then escape all consequences of it by simply deleting it. If as a moderator you do come across anything unpleasant, warn the offending party, and lock the topic. But do not delete. That is how forums are managed anyway. If the person continues to be a nuisance, after multiple warnings, ban him.
But leave most of the nonsense on the boards as a reminder to everyone of what took place. Sometimes, older fights also serve as good entertainment when you're going through older stuff and reminiscing.
If there is something really unpleasant however, that would mar someone's image or the image of the boards if it is allowed to remain, then let me know and I'll delete the post.
Or you guys always have the option of editing the post itself and removing the offending material. (It will show below the post that it was altered by a moderator.)

For deleting entire threads, you simply open the thread in question, and at the bottom of the page, select 'Delete Topic' from the drop-down box that displays your mod tools.

Yeah, something is wrong with phpbb. It doesn't show that message at times.
At first I used to think it didn't show only on my own messages which I edited as an administrator. But it seems that clearly isn't the case.
Will have to head over to phpbb support to look for a fix. Might take a while though, it goes on my to-do list for the forums for now.
